Azerbaijan sent a note of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in connection with the arrest of three of its citizens in Chechnya. Diplomatic sources of the APA news agency report that Nikhad Rzaev, Elkhan Shirinov and Vugar Magerramov have been arrested.

The note expressed concern about the possibility of the prisoners being forcibly transferred to the war zone on the territory of Ukraine. The Azerbaijani side demands that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia understand the situation and take measures to protect the rights of its citizens.

According to media reports, since the beginning of the military campaign in Ukraine, Russia has been actively recruiting migrants to participate in hostilities. Among them are citizens not only from Central Asia, but also from other countries, including India, Cuba, and Sri Lanka.

Immigrants are promised citizenship in exchange for signing a contract, and those who have received Russian passports are often forced to mobilize under the threat of revocation of citizenship.

Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation , announced at the end of June that 10,000 immigrants who received Russian citizenship went to war.
