The press service of the State Duma did not specify how much it is proposed to increase the conscription age for those who have received Russian citizenship. Earlier, a group of MPs from LDPR and United Russia proposed raising the conscription age for citizens to 50, but after criticism, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin withdrew the bill from parliament.

According to Russian legislation, a foreign citizen who has obtained Russian citizenship must register for military service within two weeks from the date of registration at the place of residence.

The maximum age of conscription for Russian citizens is 30 years. Since 2008, the term of military service in the army for citizens of the Russian Federation is 12 months.

In June, the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, announced that about 10,000 immigrants who received Russian passports were sent to the "special military operation" zone in Ukraine. He noted that national security issues should be taken into account when recruiting migrants.

Deputies plan to consider the relevant amendments by the end of the spring session, which ends on August 4.
