According to retired Lt. Col. Rich Outzen, an expert on US geopolitics , the explosion of pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon is a new type of threat in the scale of the 21st century that everyone should consider.

Responding to the questions of O nadolu agency, the retired lieutenant colonel Outzen said that placing explosives in mobile phones is not a new method, but the attack in Lebanon was a first in terms of the preparation stage, the method used and the concept of a large-scale attack.

Outzen said the remote detonation of such a large amount of explosives at once is the kind of action that other countries and some organizations can do on a very small scale .

" The possibility of an attack of this scale and depth, though difficult to execute, should be on the list of considerations for sensitive areas, airports, political headquarters and national leaders. It is certainly a new threat we should all be concerned about in the 21st century. ", he said.

"Few people doubt that Israel is behind the bombings in Lebanon, " Outzen said.

Looking at the details of the operation, Outzen emphasized that it was the result of an intelligence effort , not a military one . , noted that he prefers to target their weak points using intelligence techniques.

Outzen noted that there is a consensus that Israeli intelligence in the United States identified the orders given by Hezbollah, acted in time at the production center or on the way to the order, and planted explosives in the equipment.

Outzen noted that an important lesson should be learned from this incident.

We remind you that on Tuesday, September 17, simultaneous explosions occurred on pagers used by members of "Hezbollah" in Lebanon.

The Ministry of Health reported that 12 people, including 2 children, were killed, and about 4,000 people were injured, and more than 300 of them were in serious condition.

On September 18, 14 people died and more than 450 people were injured as a result of the explosion of radios in the country.

Although the Lebanese authorities consider Israel responsible for the incident, Israel has not yet issued a statement on this matter.

Clashes on the Israel-Lebanon border, which have been ongoing since October 8, 2023, have seen an increase in tension in recent days.
