President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will be in Kazakhstan on a state visit on August 7-9 at the invitation of Kazakhstan's President Qasim-Jomart Tokayev, the press service of the head of state reported.

In accordance with the program of the visit, it is planned to hold talks between the leaders of the two countries and the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council chaired by the presidents. Issues of further deepening of strategic partnership and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, current aspects of the international and regional agenda will be considered.

The main focus will be on expanding practical cooperation in trade, industrial cooperation, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture and water management, and other priority areas.

A set of documents aimed at strengthening bilateral relations is expected to be adopted.

It is noted that business and cultural events are being held in the capital of Kazakhstan as part of the state visit. The opening of the statue of Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi is planned.

The President of Uzbekistan will also participate in the next consultative meeting of the leaders of the Central Asian countries and the first summit of the "Central Asia + Japan" dialogue, which will be held in Astana on August 9.
