The UN General Assembly will meet on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. TRT World about it the chairman of the assembly reported based on the information of the press secretary.

An extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly was called by the representatives of Egypt and Mauritania, as the chairmen of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

According to diplomatic sources, the General Assembly, whose decisions are not binding, may vote on the text of the ceasefire resolution at the meeting.

It is noted that the text of the draft closely matches the wording of the Security Council resolution "Expressing serious concern at the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip" that was vetoed on Friday.

It calls for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" as well as "the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages."

It should be noted that last week, on Friday, the US prevented the adoption of the resolution of the UN Security Council to cease fire in Gaza, using the right of veto.
