Kyrgyzstan makes audio and video recording of court hearings mandatory

Yesterday, May 20, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed a law amending the country's Criminal Procedure Code. The document introduces the concepts of "video conferencing" and "broadcasting" into the Criminal Procedure Code and the judicial system.

Also, in Kyrgyzstan, the course of court hearings is now mandatory recorded using audio and video equipment.

If audio and video recordings of the court session are not available, this is recognized as one of the grounds for changing, revising, or annulling the court decision.

Additionally, minimum bail amounts are set based on the severity of the crime.

So far, there has been no information about when the changes to the criminal code will come into effect and the procedures.
