The Muslim Religious Authority said the scholarship is intended to support religious workers. Initially, imams will receive 8,000 soms (about $91) per month.
The stipends will be paid to officially registered imams in mosques across the country. The religious authority said this will reduce their need for donations and external support.
For your information, the launch of this program was first announced by President Sadir Japarov in December 2024. At that time, he announced that starting in March 2025, imams would be paid a salary of 8,000 soms per month, and by the end of the year, the amount of payments would be increased to 20,000 soms (about $229).
