A fight between Kyrgyz and foreign students in Bishkek caused protests




On May 13, a fight broke out between Kyrgyz and foreigners in one of the hostels in Bishkek. On the night of May 18, after this brawl, a protest was organized with the participation of about 1,000 people. 29 people were injured in the clashes. The Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed concern about Pakistani students in Kyrgyzstan.

The embassy of Pakistan in Kyrgyzstan reported that there were no casualties among its citizens as a result of the demonstrations that took place at night in Bishkek.

"I am deeply concerned about the situation of Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. I instructed the Pakistani ambassador to provide all necessary assistance. We are in contact with the embassy and are constantly monitoring the situation," the prime minister wrote to Kh.

During night demonstrations in Bishkek, 29 people were injured on the night of May 17-18. 15 of them were taken to the city emergency hospital and the National Hospital, and the rest were treated on the spot.

The embassies of India and Pakistan in Bishkek are advising students to stay at home until the situation normalizes.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif commented on the incident in Bishkek

"I am deeply concerned about the situation of Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. I instructed the Pakistani ambassador to provide all necessary assistance. We are in contact with the embassy and are constantly monitoring the situation," he wrote on the X social network.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there were no casualties or injuries among Kyrgyz citizens and foreign citizens during the demonstration.

Several suspects were arrested in Bishkek in connection with the beating of local residents by foreigners.
