The peace summit on Ukraine ended in Switzerland. What did it achieve?
The peace summit on Ukraine in Switzerland ended with the signing of the Burgenstock Declaration. The local newspaper NZZ wrote about it.
It is noted that 84 of 101 delegations supported the final declaration of the conference on the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.
Among those who refused to sign the declaration are Armenia, Slovakia, South Africa, India, and the Vatican.
The agreement was signed by countries such as Germany, USA, France, Great Britain, Spain, Argentina, Qatar, Moldova. It is also among the signatories of the European Union, the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the European Commission.
The exact content of the final declaration has not been disclosed.
"The use of nuclear energy and nuclear facilities in any way must be safe, reliable, secure and environmentally friendly. Food security must not be weaponized under any circumstances. Attacks on merchant ships, civilian ports and en route are unacceptable. In addition, all military prisoners must be released. All deported and illegally displaced Ukrainian children and other illegally detained Ukrainian citizens must be returned to their homeland," said Viola Amherd, president of the Swiss Confederation.
Earlier in the communiqué, it was reported that the countries' positions on several issues, such as the operation of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the use of nuclear weapons, access to seaports in the Black and Azov seas, as well as the release of prisoners of war, will be presented.
For information, the summit in Bürgenstock, Switzerland is taking place on June 15-16. Initially, 160 countries and organizations were invited to the summit. China, Brazil and Saudi Arabia, among others, refused to participate. Russia was not invited to the summit.
