Representatives of the G7 countries have begun negotiations on the confiscation of Russian assets, which were frozen after the start of a special military operation. This is reported by the Financial Times .

"Members of the G7 and other countries affected by the conflict may seize Russian sovereign assets as a measure to force Russia to stop its aggression," it said.

Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced in January that if it was not possible to agree on the allocation of 50 billion euros to Ukraine on the basis of a 4-year program, the European Union should come up with alternative options for helping Ukraine. He noted that the European Commission will use the time until the January meeting to prepare operational decisions, regardless of the decision of the new EU summit.
