Children in the Palestinian Gaza Strip are bearing the brunt of the Israeli attack, with one child killed or injured every ten minutes, according to UNICEF.
Tess Ingram, the organization's public affairs officer, shed light on the deep suffering endured by Gazan children during a two-week visit to the besieged exclave.
Since October 7, Israeli attacks have affected 12,000 children, nearly 70 children per day, and the numbers, Tess Ingraham adds, are actually much higher.
"The thousands of wounded children in Gaza reflect two things: (1) the volatile nature of this war, which affects mostly civilians, including children, and claims tens of thousands of their lives; and (2) its disproportionate impact on children - one in two people in Gaza is a child," Ingram said at a news conference.
UNICEF has called for a ceasefire to stop the killing of Palestinian children and increase the number of medical evacuations from the besieged enclave to treat the wounded.
In addition to thousands of wounded and maimed children, 14,000 minors have been killed in Israel's brutal massacres over the past six months. At the same time, as of April 18, the total number of dead is about 34 thousand people.
