South Korea has accused the DPRK of supplying shells to Russia in exchange for food

South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik accused Pyongyang of producing shells for Russia in exchange for food. Since August, Pyongyang has sent Russia about 6,700 containers capable of holding more than 3 million artillery shells, a South Korean minister said.
South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik announced that North Korea's munitions factories are working at full capacity with the production of weapons and ammunition for Russia.
According to him, North Korea supplies Russia with weapons and military equipment, including millions of artillery shells, in exchange for food and basic necessities.
Since August, Pyongyang has sent Russia about 6,700 containers capable of holding more than 3 million artillery shells, the defense minister said.
"While the rest of North Korea's weapons factories are operating at 30 percent capacity due to shortages of raw materials and electricity, factories producing weapons and artillery shells for Russia are operating at full capacity," Shin told reporters.
He added that the number of containers sent from Russia to Pyongyang is about a third more than that sent in the opposite direction - from North Korea to Russia.
"It appears that the largest share of supplies is food, which will help stabilize prices in North Korea," Shin Won-sik said.
It should be noted that Moscow and Pyongyang have repeatedly rejected the accusations of the United States and its allies regarding arms deals.
