Three imams in Russia warned over fatwas and statements on polygamy
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has issued warnings to Munir Beyusov, head of the Ulema Council of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Muslim Religious Administration, Artur Mukhutdinov, head of the Sverdlovsk Region Muslim Religious Administration, and Damir Mukhutdinov, first deputy chairman of the Muslim Religious Administration of Russia, for their statements regarding polygamy.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia has found the fatwa of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation permitting polygamy to be "contrary to current legislation and legislative acts in the field of preserving the foundations of state family policy and strengthening traditional Russian spiritual and moral values." In this regard, it has submitted a proposal to cancel this fatwa.
