An unknown person attacked people with a knife during a festival dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the city of Solingen in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany. Three people were killed and five were seriously injured in the incident. The attacker managed to escape and is currently being sought.

The chief mufti of Tajikistan, Saidmukarram Abduqadirzade, was attacked with a knife near the central mosque in the capital, Dushanbe. The assailant was caught, the chief mufti, who received a minor injury, was sent home after a medical examination.
