The Druze are a sect of the Shia sect, living mainly in Lebanon and Syria. Their views are close to those of the Ismailis. The sect emerged during the reign of the Fatimid Caliph Al-Hakim (996-1021). Towards the end of his life, Al-Hakim declared himself a god and ordered people to believe in him. After his death, the peoples living in the Lebanese and Anti-Lebanon mountains began to believe in him as a god.

The name Druze is associated with the name of Nishtegin Darazi, one of the propagandists of Caliph Hakim. The Druze faith consists of several religions and ideologies. It denies heaven, hell, reward and punishment. The group, which completely rejects the Quran and is mistaken, has its own handmade book. Despite this, the Druze interpret the content of the Quran figuratively.

Due to the idea of the transmigration of the soul, they are indifferent to death and do not consider it obligatory to perform Islamic religious rituals. Of the religious holidays, they celebrate only Eid al-Adha and Ashura, which is considered a mourning ceremony for Shiites. The Druze adhere to the requirements of taqiyya characteristic of Shiites due to persecution by Sunnis. Like all Ismailis, the Druze do not recognize Sharia. The Druze are divided into two groups: "omiy" ("ignorant", "uneducated") and "uqqal" ("knowledgeable", "informed"). The Druze do not have the habit of going to mosques or praying. Their temples are called "halwa". Only "uqqal" gather here on Thursdays. Since the Middle Ages, the Druze have had their own hereditary estates and a dynasty of ruling emirs. Muslim scholars have declared the Druze to be a sect that has left the religion.
