Uzbekistan's external debt exceeds $72 billion
In the first half of 2025, Uzbekistan's total external debt reached $72.2 billion. Of this, the volume of state external debt amounted to $36.8 billion and corporate external debt amounted to $35.4 billion. In the last 3 months, our external debt increased by $3.8 billion, and in the last 1 year, by $15.6 billion.
For comparison, in the same period in 2024, the republic's total external debt was $56.6 billion. Of this, $31 billion was state external debt and $25.6 billion was corporate external debt.
Public debt is projected to reach $45.1 billion by the end of 2025. This is equivalent to 36.7 percent of the expected GDP at the end of this year ($125 billion). This year, it is planned to borrow $5.5 billion from abroad. Of this, $3 billion will be used to support the budget, and the remaining $2.5 billion will be used for investment projects.
