Uzbekistan does not intend to return military helicopters to Afghanistan - Foreign Ministry

Ahrar Burkhanov, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denied reports that Uzbekistan had agreed to return a military helicopter to Afghanistan.

"Such reports are not true. Uzbekistan's position has remained unchanged," he told a local publication.

The fact is that yesterday, The Kabul Times reported that Uzbekistan had agreed to return 57 military helicopters to Afghanistan.

We would like to remind you that in August 2021, 22 military aircraft and 24 helicopters carrying 585 armed Afghan military personnel entered Uzbek airspace.

Afghan officials have repeatedly said the aircraft belong to them. Uzbekistan has said they are US property and cannot be returned.
