Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan became allied states
On May 19, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law "On Ratification of the Treaty on Allied Relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan."
This law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on February 25, 2025, and approved by the Senate on April 30.
The leaders of the two countries signed the Treaty on Allied Relations in Tashkent on August 23, 2024. At that time, the President of Azerbaijan paid a state visit to Uzbekistan.
This agreement stipulates the obligations of the parties not to participate in any blocs or alliances directed against each other and to refrain from participating in any actions that, in the opinion of one of the parties, could harm the strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries.
