Tokayev wrote a letter to Trump, who imposed a 25% tariff on Kazakhstan
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that a 25% tariff would be imposed on goods from 14 countries, including Kazakhstan, starting August 1. He also sent letters to the leaders of each country, in particular to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, warning them about this.
Today, July 10, Tokayev sent a letter of response to Trump regarding the introduction of a 25% tariff on imports of Kazakh goods.
According to the press service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan, as a long-standing trade and investment partner of the United States, is committed to developing fair and mutually beneficial trade relations.
"The President of Kazakhstan confirmed his readiness to continue constructive dialogue with the aim of developing a rational solution to our country's trade issues," the report said.
Tokayev also expressed confidence that a bilateral compromise would be reached on the trade issue.
