According to the statement, the working groups of the two countries held a meeting in Boston, Sogd region, in the north of the country. After field studies, the groups agreed on another common border of 1.1 kilometers, and a protocol was signed in this regard.
The parties will continue to work on other parts of the disputed border between the two countries at the next meeting in Kyrgyzstan.
For information, an agreement was reached on 889.45 kilometers or about 90 percent of the 972 kilometers of the common border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The last time the parties met in Botken, Kyrgyzstan, from January 30 to February 5, reached an agreement on an additional 3.71 kilometers of the border and signed a protocol.
Tensions and conflicts arose from time to time between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan due to border disputes. The last conflict between the two countries took place on September 14, 2022, and dozens of people were killed on both sides.
