Statement issued on another death in prison

On February 11, 2025, Mustafa Tursunbaev, a convict serving his sentence in penal colony No. 7, was crushed by a collapsed wall of a building that was currently being demolished, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported.

It is said that the convict was immediately hospitalized, but despite the medical treatment provided by the doctors, the convict died in the hospital on February 16.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 257 of the Criminal Code (Violation of Labor Protection Rules) in this case, and the Tashkent Special Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation, the report says.

It was previously reported that the body of a convict was found in penal colony No. 14 in the city of Almalyk.
