Punishment for indecent acts against minors to be increased

At a meeting of political party factions in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with Improving the System of Protecting Children from Violence" was discussed.

It is noted that liability will be increased for committing indecent acts against a person under the age of 16 using telecommunications networks or the Internet.

Liability is also established for possession of pornographic products depicting children.

It is noted that despite the work being carried out to protect children from various forms of violence, inappropriate actions in this regard are not decreasing. According to data, in August 2025, the number of crimes of indecent acts against minors increased by 36%.
