Products and services will be awarded the "Halal" label in Uzbekistan

The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has approved the introduction of the "Halal" mark in the country from May 1, 2025. This decision provides for the creation of a certification system for products and services in accordance with the requirements of the Standards and Metrology Institute of Islamic Countries (SMIIC).

According to the decision:

- The procedure for certifying products and services in accordance with "Halal" requirements has been approved.

- A mechanism for periodic evaluation of certified products and services will be established.

- Certification bodies will be established and will operate based on international standards.

- The official shape and size of the "Halal" sign are determined.

Certification is carried out according to SMIIC standards. The Agency for Technical Regulation of Uzbekistan, together with the Committee for Religious Affairs, will conduct international accreditation of the certification body within 6 months.

This decision will enter into force 3 months from the date of its official publication.
