Meta may open a representative office in Uzbekistan
Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp Threads, may open its representative office in Uzbekistan.
According to the press service of the National Agency for Promising Projects, a meeting with company representatives was held at the agency on October 7. In particular, Meta's Director of Public Policy for South and Central Asia, Sarim Aziz, Head of Public Policy for Central Asia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Senura Abeywardena, Head of Government Relations and Social Initiatives for Central Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Aurora Lee, and Regional Manager of Public Policy for Central Asia and Mongolia, Erasil Kalikhan, participated.
The discussion covered the prospects for opening a Meta representative office in Uzbekistan, measures to develop cooperation in promoting advertising and preventing fraud on the company's platforms. Issues of content monetization and supporting digital content creators in the country were also discussed.
The parties noted the importance of establishing direct dialogue and exchanging experiences on regulating digital platforms, protecting users, and developing a fair monetization system.
The National Agency for Promising Projects noted that special attention was paid to the issues of digital security, advertising transparency, and promoting responsible digital behavior at the meeting. The parties agreed to continue cooperation and explore specific areas of cooperation.
