Kazakhstan was unable to participate in the peace summit held in Switzerland due to the tight schedule of international events. Oybek Smadiyarov, the representative of the country's MFA, informed about this during a briefing in Astana.

"We could not participate in this summit due to the schedule of international events. Therefore, we cannot say anything on this issue, because we were not there," said Smadiyarov in response to the question about the possibility of Astana joining the final declaration.

For information, representatives of more than 90 countries and four organizations participated in the summit held in Burgenstock, Switzerland. 80 out of 92 countries signed the communiqué. Representatives of China and Russia did not participate in the summit.

Earlier, Smadiyarov said at a press conference that he would "consider the possibility of the country's participation in the Astana Peace Summit, taking into account its schedule and international position."

"Kazakhstan has historically maintained equally close political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with Ukraine and Russia. We always stand in the position of maintaining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, observing the principles of the UN Charter. From this point of view, we are in favor of a peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict," the MFA representative added.
