The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has accredited the head of the diplomatic mission of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ur Rahman Rahmani, as a representative. It was reported that the aim was to expand trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

Alibek Bakaev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, received the head of the diplomatic mission of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ur Rahman Rahmani, Zakon.kz reported, citing the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, Bakaev announced that Kazakhstan has accredited Rahmani as a representative of Afghanistan in Kazakhstan (diplomatic representative below the rank of ambassador - ed.), which is an important goal of the two countries to expand trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan believes that the active involvement of Afghanistan in regional relations will create additional conditions for the improvement of the situation of the Afghan people, the restoration of the country's economy and social stability, as well as the maintenance of peace and security in the region.

"Kazakhstan is in favor of unifying international efforts to provide assistance to Afghanistan and solve complex humanitarian problems. For this purpose, Kazakhstan proposed to establish the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty ," said the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan .

On June 3, 2024, the country's president Kasim-Jomart Toqaev stated that " one of the strategic tasks at the current stage is to actively involve Afghanistan in interregional relations." The head of state also reminded that " Kazakhstan removed the Taliban regime from the list of terrorists, realizing the importance of developing trade and economic cooperation with modern Afghanistan and that this regime is a long-term factor."
