China, Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan agree on railway tariffs
Representatives of China, Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan reached an agreement in Tehran to coordinate rail freight rates. The agreement will serve to improve a transport corridor aimed at increasing the flow of goods from China to Europe via Central Asia and the Middle East.
At the meeting, the participants expressed their readiness to cooperate in increasing container transportation volumes, harmonizing delivery times, and simplifying logistics processes. They also agreed on the promotion of this direction in the international transport market.
According to the Kazakh Railways, the volume of container traffic from China to Iran through Kazakhstan in January-April 2025 increased by 2.6 times compared to the same period last year. This indicates the growing importance of this transport corridor in Eurasia.
This initiative aims to transform the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Turkey-Europe railway corridor into a more competitive and reliable transport route, which is said to serve to strengthen trade ties between Asia and Europe.
