Can I get answers to religious questions from ChatGPT?
The Fatwa Center of the Muslim Authority of Uzbekistan has announced that it is not permissible to receive answers to religious questions via ChatGPT. The center stated that it is not permissible to receive answers to religious questions via artificial intelligence.
According to the department, the ChatGPT platform is beneficial to people in some areas. However, it is incapable of providing correct answers to religious questions. Because it is also a product developed by the human factor. In addition, sometimes it may give approximate answers to questions, even Arabic phrases, saying that this issue is in such and such a book. However, the phrases it cites are not found in the book it mentions or in other fiqh sources. Therefore, it is necessary to find solutions to Sharia issues by contacting scholars and experts.
The center noted that if a Muslim does not know something, he should learn it from someone who does, the "people of remembrance" of that field.
"Therefore, matters related to faith and religion must be asked from scholars in this field," the Fatwa Center's response states.
