The Fatwa Committee of the Singapore Ulema Council has declared that artificial meat can be considered halal if certain conditions are met, including that the cells are derived from animals that can be eaten by Muslims (such as chicken) and that non-halal components are not mixed in during the production process.

The fatwa was issued after months of deliberations among clerics and consultation with stakeholders, including government agencies, scholars and experts. In addition, theologians have tried to produce locally grown meat. The fatwa committee emphasized the environmental and nutritional benefits of farmed meat and recognized that its benefits outweigh its harm.
