A quarter of Uzbeks borrow money for their wedding

More than 25 percent of Uzbekistan's population borrows money for their wedding.

In a survey conducted by the "Yuksalish" movement, 41.1 percent of respondents said they spend a lot of money on a wedding because of the obligation to "give a wedding to the people."

A total of 1,247 people participated in the survey. Of these, 34.3 percent were aged 18-30, 35.5 percent were aged 30-45, and 30.2 percent were over 50.

The study covered citizens from different regions of the country, including the capital, regional centers, and districts.

Surprisingly, when asked "What should a wedding be like?", the majority of respondents - 39.62 percent - chose the "Modest" option. Only 6.66 percent of respondents preferred the "Luxurious, luxurious" option.
