A newly built mosque in Tashkent was demolished: is the city in shambles?

In fact, in Uzbekistan, where 96 percent of the population is Muslim, there should be a mosque at every step, and compatriots who walk on the street for some reason should not face any problems in praying. For example, in Istanbul, Muslims have similar conditions. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same about our country, including the capital Tashkent. It is true that after the Russians occupied it, many mosques and madrasas in the old city of Shash were reduced to ruins. However, even today, the destruction of a single mosque in our capital, where there are so few prayer rooms compared to its population, is unacceptable.

Here is an example: the Imam Bukhari mosque, built by hashar on General Uzoqov Street in the Shaykhontohur district of Tashkent, was demolished. According to Paradigma , residents of the area have appealed to the court regarding the situation. However, for some reason, the trial was postponed to January 29.

According to the petitioners, the people living in this area, who did not even bother with the elderly who go to the mosque every day to pray and tell their troubles to the Creator, began the destruction of the mosque in November 2024. They did not even bother to show the mosque's occupants documents. Those who, fearlessly destroying the holy shrines of Muslims in the land of Muslims, even went so far as to intimidate those who opposed their actions, which are not pleasing to God...

"They did not show any valid documents to demolish the mosque: from November 27 to December 13, they destroyed the mosque in a barbaric manner, looted and scattered its contents. They did not even listen to the advice of the elders," says one of the local residents.

Every intelligent person who listens to the words of the petitioners begins to wonder if there is some invisible "long hand" behind this matter. Whoever it is, no, no, those who dare to destroy the holy place named after our great grandfather Imam Bukhari are the children of this people?! Even if they are descendants of some Zionist or atheist, who gave them the right to destroy the holy places of Muslims? Where are the officials who are taking millions of dollars as salaries from the pockets of the population wandering there, saying that they will protect their dignity and rights, looking? Isn't it possible that such a big city doesn't have a gate?!

If you think about it carefully, today we are not in a position to demolish functional mosques in Uzbekistan under any pretext. Freedom of religion is permissible in any society where human dignity prevails. At the same time, it is the government's duty to create conditions for Muslims to perform their prayers without difficulty.

It is not without reason that we looked at the situation in Turkey above. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, in the Kastamonu region of the country alone, there is one mosque for every 145 people (a total of 2,605). In Samsun, there is one for every 497 people, a total of 2,751 mosques. In Konya, there is one for every 705 people, a total of 3,255 mosques. Interestingly, the number of mosques in all of Uzbekistan, if we rely on the data of Masjid.uz, is 2,043. From this, it becomes clear that the number of mosques in Uzbekistan, where the majority of the population is Muslim, is even lower than in the mosques in the regions of Turkey. Now tell me, how right is it for some authorities to demolish mosques that are functioning properly today?
