21-year-old convict found dead in Almalyk prison colony

The body of 21-year-old convict Muhammadkadir Pulatov was found on February 15 in colony No. 14 in Almalyk. This was announced by Abdurakhmon Tashanov, head of the Ezgulik Human Rights Society.

The convict's mother, Nigora Kambarova, who lives in the city of Fergana, said that she had long meetings with her son on January 26-28 of this year. According to the woman, her son is a winner of international sports tournaments and has been involved in sports since childhood. He has never complained about his health, and he has no concomitant diseases. Her only son, who was convicted of hooliganism and sentenced to 3 years in prison, was supposed to be released from the penal colony in August of this year.

The colony administration says that Muhammadkadir died of a myocardial infarction and severe pancreatitis. However, his mother said that her son's body bore signs of torture, including marks similar to those of an electric shock.

"The only thing that has raised our suspicions so far is that the colony administration did not inform the prisoner's relatives that he was hospitalized in critical condition," Abdurakhmon Tashanov wrote.
