US imposes sanctions on International Criminal Court chief prosecutor Karim Khan
The United States has added International Criminal Court (ICC) Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan to its sanctions list, in connection with the arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Karim Khan is a British lawyer who has served as the Attorney General of the ICC since 2021. As a result of the sanctions, his assets are frozen and he is banned from entering the United States.
Donald Trump accused the CIA of "conducting illegal acts against America" and issuing unfounded warrants against Israel. He also imposed financial and visa restrictions on the CIA.
Amnesty International called the decision "an attack on the international justice system." They said it showed Trump's support for crimes committed by the Israeli government.
