Three Muslim regions become the safest subjects of Russia

By the end of 2024, the lowest crime rate among Russian regions was observed in Chechnya , Ingushetia and Dagestan , RIA Novosti reported, citing data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs .

It is noted that in Chechnya last year there were only 17 crimes per 10,000 inhabitants. For comparison, the national average is 131.

The highest crime rates were recorded in the Republics of Karelia and Altai, as well as the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In these regions, more than 200 crimes per 10,000 inhabitants were officially registered in 2024.

Overall, the country has seen a downward trend in crime rates. Last year, the number of crimes decreased by 1.8 percent to about 1.9 million. A positive trend was recorded in 57 regions.
