In Russia, a draft law on the banning of the headscarf was discussed
Deputies of the State Duma will soon vote on the draft law on the prohibition of face-covering clothing, including the mask. According to deputies, wearing a mask makes it difficult to identify a person's face from surveillance cameras in public places.
The corresponding bill has already been submitted to the lower house of the parliament by Vladislav Davankov, a member of the "New People" party, the Baza telegram channel reports.
The amendments provide that the heads of regions and educational institutions of the country will have the opportunity to determine on their own whether it is permissible to wear clothing that obscures the face of a person.
In the project, the secularity of the state, the restriction of the rights and freedoms of citizens by religion, possible threats in public places, as well as the possibility of limiting the rights and freedoms are added to the article.
Deputies also drew attention to the high risk of terrorism observed in some regions and concluded that wearing clothes that make it difficult to identify a person's face from surveillance cameras in public places is not allowed.
The authors of the bill also mentioned that in other countries - China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and a number of other Muslim and non-Muslim countries - it is forbidden to wear such clothes.
It is noted that in order to maintain public order in places and educational institutions, "the wearing of the niqab and hijab in public places is legally prohibited."
At the same time, they put forward the opinion that this bill "allows to strengthen the secular nature of education."
Earlier, the Russian government defended religious clothing.
