The Taliban flew to Baku for the UN climate summit
The delegation of the Taliban movement of Afghanistan will participate in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku.
Azerbaijan has invited Afghan officials as observers, allowing them to "participate in discussions and hold bilateral meetings," a diplomatic source told Reuters.
The National Environmental Protection Agency of Afghanistan reported that the technical delegation headed by the head of the agency, Maulvi Matiul Haq Kholis, left for Azerbaijan.
"At COP29, we will try to discuss issues related to climate change and environmental issues, as well as bring the voice of Afghans to the international community," said Kholis.
He noted the participation of the Afghan delegation in the international climate conference as a good opportunity for Afghanistan and stressed that they will try to use the event effectively.
For information, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in Baku this week. About 100 leaders, including the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, are expected to participate in it.
