Irregular immigrants seeking to cross into the U.S. continue to wait in cities near the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in January-November 2023, more than 2,240,000 people came to the border through Mexico to enter the United States, while this number was 2,326,000 in 2022 , and 1,856,000 in 2021.

According to Mexico's National Institute of Migration (INM), these migrants mainly belong to Guatemala, Honduras, Salvador , Haiti, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Pakistan, China and various African countries.

INM reported that 431,000 people have been registered for the legalization of irregular migrants in the country and the process is ongoing.

According to the El Economista website based in Mexico, 153 in 2014, 148 in 2015, 254 in 2016, 245 in 2017, 596 in 2018, 854 in 2019, 798 in 2020 , 1,249 in 2021, and 1,560 in 2022. died in li lost or missing.

These migrants pay human smugglers a certain amount of money to reach the US, but those who can't, are forced to walk for weeks , and face violence and discrimination.

A report published by the IOM on September 12 listed the Mexico-US route as "the most dangerous land migration route in the world."

Irregular migrants use buses, trucks, freight trains and boats on rivers to fulfill their dream of reaching the United States by paying gangs.

Despite the threats of organ traffickers, drug mafias and criminal organizations , irregular immigrants who have not given up on the American dream are suffering from various diseases before they reach the US border.

On the other hand, thousands of migrants waiting in the Mexican cities of Tapachula, Chiapas, Nuevo León and Morelos are forced to work many low-wage jobs for months in order to enter the United States legally.
