Syria regains full control over Suwayda

Suwayda is being fully controlled by the Syrian government. After the defeat of pro-Israeli forces in the area, units of the Syrian Interior Ministry will be deployed there.

Druze sheikh Yusuf Jerbu, who signed the peace agreement with the Syrian government, expressed his readiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and emphasized that foreign forces, in particular Israel, will not be allowed to interfere in the region.

The Syrian army will retain its influence in strategic areas of the city and its surroundings, while some will be withdrawn and replaced by Interior Ministry personnel.

According to a statement from the Syrian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the process of fully integrating Suwayda into the country will begin: it is planned to restore full sovereignty, establish checkpoints, confiscate weapons, restore the activities of state institutions, and strengthen administrative control.
