Putin-Trump: what did the two presidents talk about on the phone?

Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump held an important telephone conversation. During the conversation, issues of improving bilateral relations, resolving the Ukrainian conflict, and strategic cooperation were discussed.

The first issue raised during the presidents' conversation was the initiative to stop attacks on Ukrainian energy and infrastructure facilities. The White House leader proposed to Putin a 30-day ceasefire. The Kremlin responded positively to this initiative and announced that the necessary orders had been given to the Russian military.

Putin also raised the issue of ending forced mobilization and limiting the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The two countries agreed to create working groups of Russian and US experts to peacefully resolve the conflict.

As part of the peace initiative, Putin said he was ready to transfer 23 seriously injured Ukrainian servicemen who were being treated in Russia to Kiev. It was also announced on March 19 that a 175-for-175 prisoner exchange would take place between Russia and Ukraine.

The presidents also agreed to begin talks on a ceasefire in the Black Sea region. Putin and Trump also discussed measures to prevent the proliferation of strategic weapons in the Middle East, in particular, expressing their unanimity on preventing Iran from threatening Israel.
