Trump prepares to meet with Putin

A meeting has been scheduled between US President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, it has been reported. On January 9, Trump expressed his intention to negotiate with Putin to end the war, ahead of a meeting with Republican governors.

"President Putin wants to meet, we will arrange it. We have to end this bloody war," Trump said of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. However, a date for the talks has not yet been set.

Trump's administration's peace plans could include handing over parts of Ukraine to Russia, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has suggested that Trump could be a key mediator in the war.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that an official request has not yet been sent to the Kremlin and that it would be appropriate to wait for Trump to take office for negotiations.
