Nurse in Britain sentenced for wearing watermelon badge
A nurse in London got into trouble for wearing a watermelon-shaped badge on her white coat. The watermelon has become a symbol of sympathy for the Palestinians in the Arab world, as its white, red, and black colors are reminiscent of the Palestinian flag.
The nurse was accused of "inappropriately wearing propaganda symbols" in a medical facility. The legal organization Lawyers for Israel also filed a lawsuit against the nurse, calling the wearing of such a symbol an anti-Semitic act.
The incident reached the court. Unlike Zionist lawyers, many on social media considered it an attack on freedom of expression. The comments noted that everyone should have the freedom to express sympathy for the Palestinians who are being subjected to the Israeli occupation genocide.
