Norway recognized Palestine
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Støre announced that Norway recognizes the state of Palestine. Ireland and Spain announced today, May 22, that they are ready to join the ranks of the countries that recognize Palestine. So far, 9 EU countries have recognized Palestine.
Norway has fulfilled its promise and recognized the state of Palestine, NRK reports. The decision to recognize the Palestinian state was announced today by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Støre.
In addition to Norway, Ireland and Spain announced today, May 22, that they are ready to join the ranks of the countries that recognize Palestine.
So far, nine EU countries have recognized Palestine. Bulgaria, Hungary, Cyprus, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic adopted the relevant decision before joining the EU in 1998, and Sweden joined them 16 years later. In addition, a number of other countries, including Belgium and Slovenia, are expected to recognize Palestine.
