Mufti of Dagestan announced the establishment of a new fatwa department

The Department of Fatwas (Sharia and legal conclusions) and the Department of Reconciliation will be reorganized in the Mufti of Dagestan. Ahmad Abdulaev, the head of the office of Muslims of the republic, informed about this at a meeting with the mufti's staff.

According to him, this decision was developed in order to improve work with residents' appeals and requests.

Mufti explained that representatives of all four regional districts of Dagestan work in the department every day under the leadership of doctors of Islamic sciences.

It should be noted that on July 8, mufti Abdulaev terminated the fatwa department because it did not meet the "needs of the times" and also announced "further changes" in the mufti of the republic.

Earlier, the mufti announced the adoption of a fatwa banning the wearing of the niqab (a garment that covers the entire face and leaves a narrow opening for the eyes) and instructed the fatwa department to study the matter.

The Fatwa Department of the Mufti issued a statement that the analysis of Sharia texts cannot be the basis for making a decision on the complete prohibition of the niqab. Nevertheless, the mufti made a decision to temporarily ban the niqab, which has a recommendatory character.
