Macron criticizes Trump's Gaza plan
French President Emmanuel Macron has strongly criticized US President Donald Trump's plan to withdraw Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, saying the displacement of 2 million people from their homeland is inhumane.
"You can't say to 2 million people: 'Well, what do you think now? You're moving,'" Macron said in an interview with CNN.
He stressed that any approach to rebuilding Gaza must take into account the wishes of the local population, and that Jordan and Egypt are unwilling to accept large numbers of refugees.
"I have always reiterated my disagreement with [Israeli] Prime Minister Netanyahu. I repeat that such a large-scale operation targeting civilians is not the right solution," Macron said.
France stops arms exports to Israel
In October 2024, France announced that it had stopped supplying arms to Israel. Macron called on other countries to follow suit.
Spain, Italy, Slovenia and Ireland supported France's arms embargo against Israel.
