According to the Lebanese government, at least 569 people, including 50 children and 94 women, have been killed and more than 1,800 injured in Israeli airstrikes across the country since Monday.

Israeli officials say they are targeting the infrastructure and fighters of the Hezbollah group in Lebanon, which is backed by Iran and is constantly shelling northern Israel.

Israel Defense Forces (TsAXAL) spokesman Daniel Hagari said the Israeli Air Force carried out a targeted strike in Beirut on Tuesday, killing not only the commander of Hezbollah's rocket forces, Ibrahim Qubaysi, but at least two other commanders. Hagari added that Kubaisi was responsible for attacks on Israel in recent days, including 300 rockets fired on Tuesday.

In turn, "Hezbollah" announced that it carried out a drone attack on the Atlit naval base, the headquarters of the Israeli Navy's special forces near Haifa, Al-Jazeera TV channel reports.

On Tuesday morning, Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets into Israel. Most of them were shot down, but some buildings were destroyed, TsAKHAL reported.

Israeli warplanes also struck the Syrian city of Tartus. Syria's "Al-Watan" newspaper reports that the Syrian air defense forces repelled an air attack in the skies of Tartus province.

"Heavy explosions were heard as a result of air defense operations in Tartus, air defense forces repelled Israeli strikes on one of the targets in the area," the newspaper writes.
