Artificial intelligence system makes diagnoses 4 times more accurate than doctors
The newly developed MAI Diagnostic Orchestrator (MAI-DxO) system is 4 times more accurate in diagnosing than doctors. This system is based on artificial intelligence and consists of a "council" of several models, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok: they jointly analyze symptoms, tests and, consulting with each other, make an accurate diagnosis for the patient.
The results were excellent - the MAI-DxO system made the correct diagnosis in 4 out of 5 cases. In addition, the system was also cost-effective, reducing the cost of services by 20% through the correct selection of examinations and analyzes.
Microsoft's AI chief Mustafa Suleiman called the technology "the path to superintelligence in medicine." The company is reportedly planning to integrate the tool into Bing.
David Sontag, a researcher at MIT, called the system interesting, but cautioned against using it. He said the doctors in the study were not trained to use any additional tools, so they were not on an equal footing with the AI. However, the neural network's diagnoses were based on modeling, not real-world experience.
