Afghanistan bans windows that overlook women in neighboring homes
Afghanistan has banned the construction of windows in a way that allows women in the neighbor's house to be seen. If a house is already built in this way, measures must be taken to "prevent harm to the neighbor" by erecting a wall in front of the house or by other means.
In Afghanistan, it has been banned from building windows that allow women in the neighbor's house to be seen. The decree to this effect was signed by Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhundzada.
Tolo News reports that the windows of an Afghan citizen's home must be installed in such a way that they cannot be seen from the kitchen, nursery, and other rooms in the neighbor's house where women may be.
If the house is already built in this way, there are guidelines for building a wall in front of the house or otherwise "preventing harm to the neighbor."
As a reminder, in late October, women in Afghanistan were banned from speaking in public, not only to men, but also to other women. Women are also required to refrain from reciting the Quran aloud, even in the presence of other women.
