In the US, a police officer shot and killed the 13-year-old child of a Muslim family who fled the genocide in Myanmar and sought refuge across the ocean. This was reported by SkyNews.

The authorities have exonerated the police officer in this incident, citing the fact that the child had a toy gun. The policeman himself said that the boy and his accomplice were very similar to the robbers who attacked the store in the northwest of Manhattan.

Local police chief Mark Williams said one of the teenagers ran and the other allegedly pointed what appeared to be a handgun at police, prompting one of the two officers on the scene to open fire on him.

Unfortunately, despite first aid, the boy died at the hospital.

For reference, Muslims in Myanmar's Rakhine State remain one of the most persecuted and discriminated groups in the world. They were victims of genocide by Myanmar's military junta in 2012 and 2017, and later became the focus of international attention as refugees who fled the violence to countries such as Bangladesh. More than 1.2 million Rohingya Muslims currently live outside Myanmar, making them one of the largest stateless groups in the world.
