In northwest Pakistan, militants attacked civilians on the Punjab-Baluchistan road, as well as police stations, a military base and a railway, Reuters reports.

A railway bridge connecting the capital of Balochistan with the rest of Pakistan was blown up, killing 6 people. Railway lines connecting Pakistan with Iran were also damaged.

In response, the security forces launched counter-terrorist operations. According to the latest information, at least 73 people were killed in the clashes with the separatists. 38 of them are civilians, 14 are military and police officers, and 21 are militants.

"The aim of these attacks is to destabilize Pakistan," said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The separatist terrorist organization " Balochistan Liberation Army" claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Balochistan province, bordering Iran, is the poorest region in Pakistan, despite the abundance of natural resources. China mines gold and copper in Baluchistan. In Iran's Sistan and Balochistan provinces, separatism among the Baloch is strong and terrorist attacks are frequent.
