Istanbul Airport was recognized as the best airport in the world in five categories
Istanbul Airport received five awards in a poll conducted among readers of Global Traveler magazine .
The American Global Traveler magazine named Istanbul Airport the "Best Airport in the World". The airport of the city of Turkey is in Europe was also recognized as the best airport.
New Istanbul Airport also won the awards "Best Airport for Food and Beverage", "Best Airport Shopping" and "Airport with the Best Duty Free Shopping Experience in Europe".
About 500,000 monthly readers of the magazine evaluated the travel services, hotels, airlines and cruises they received during the year based on their life experiences, the publication said in a statement.
According to the survey, the average Global Traveler reader takes 18 domestic flights per year, 96 % of them regularly travel abroad, and more than 80 % stay in 4- and 5-star hotels for an average of more than 80 days per year.
"We understand that being recognized by the readers of Global Traveler magazine in not one, but five nominations is a high achievement in our field and a testament to the dedication, hard work and excellence of every employee at our airport, " said Istanbul Airport Communications Director Gökkhan Shengul.
